Imagine getting in tune with your body, respecting its rhythms and promoting your health in an integral way. On 13 October, we welcomed therapist Sandra de Andrade to our office and this is what she brought us: a new vision of how Ayurveda can transform our immunity and well-being.
During this session, we explored the fundamental concepts of Ayurveda and identified our doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha - biotypes that reflect the elements of nature in us. It was incredible to discover how each of us can adopt specific practices to strengthen the immune system in a natural and personalised way.
Here are some of Sandra's recommendations for strengthening immunity:
- Hygiene and Cleanliness: This includes practices such as using the Neti pot for nasal cleansing and the copper tongue scraper, which helps eliminate toxins first thing in the morning.
- Immunising food: Bet on fresh, light food, and include recipes such as Golden Milk, a delicious, immune-stimulating drink that warms and nourishes us. Here's the recipe:
Golden Milk recipe
- 4 tablespoons of saffron
- 2 dessertspoons ginger powder
- 2 dessertspoons cinnamon
- 1 dessert spoon black pepper (pippali)
Mix these spices over a low heat until you smell the intoxicating aroma. Store the mixture in a glass jar and add a teaspoon to your favourite milk or plant-based drink.
- Supplementation and sleep: Vitamins such as A, B6, B12 and C help nourish immunity. And of course, nights of deep sleep, with the help of relaxation routines and pranayamas, are essential.
- Physical activity and positivity: Yoga, walking and a positive mindset help the body and mind find the balance needed to face everyday life with renewed energy.
